At first glance this picture looks like President Barack Obama is speaking with Jay Z and a Caucasian women. After a second look I realized it was Beyonce! Someone I look up to in a sense, she is a powerful African American female, and yet she looks like a Caucasian female in this picture. See I love Beyonce', and would never want to speak bad of her, and I am not, but y B? I feel like this could be a possibly be a modern day BLACKFACE. I say this only because Blackface is a form of theatrical make up which was put on to stereotype African Americans, it was another race view of how African Americans looked. So when I say this is a modern day blackface, I believe that someone is making Beyonce', a person who appeals to millions of African American young girls and women, look lighter and more "white". Which is probably why America thinks a African American female who is lighter with permed hair is more acceptable to the public and have a more "commercial" look.
If you think about it natural hair for African American women is frowned upon, and darker women have to have a softer look to be accepted. But why? I think that means something, and it could just be me, but I really think that means something! I just would like you to think about it. Who is to say what's acceptable and whats not? Let's Not Be So VAIN!
